copying layer settings from one drawing to another..

hi there..
is it possible to copy the layer settings from one drawing file to another, if both the drawing have same layers and different layer setting(colour and line type etc)..
[i have 2 drawing copy of each other, but i ve made slight modification in one file ,like adding new components, and i have changed a few layer colours and froze a few layers, now i want the layer setting of the other drawing in the changed one to be same is it possible..]
thanks in advance..

A workaround i always use:
make a copy of your dwg with layers set properly, earase all , then copy all objects in the dwg you want to have same layer properties in it.
As far as i know there isn't an easy way.
also you may like to post in the customization forum.

IF YOU HAVE LOADED EXPRESS TOOLS YOU CAN TRY THIS
EXPRESS>LAYERS>LAYER MANAGER>SAVE--CHOOSE NAME>EXPORT>SAVE. OPEN YOUR OTHER DRAWING FOLLOW SAME STEPS EXCEPT WHEN YOU GET INTO THE LAYER MANAGER CHOOSE IMPORT

You can also import layers and other dsireable definitions by:

1. Creating a template drawing (.dwt) extension like is recommended in the help files.

2. Opening a new drawing, starting the block > insert command and selecting a drawing with the information you wish to import. When asked for an insert point, press ESC to end the command. Layers, and other definitions will be in the new drawing but drawn images in the inserted drawing won't be unless they are blocks.

You can also try "design center" not a total fix, but works well...

I tried import and export and even made new layer state and imported that and nothing changed. What am I doing wrong?

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.
